Rated A Haunting in Venice 6/10
Kenneth Branagh certainly made some choices in this film. Both as the star and as the director. I realize this is the 3rd time he has played Poirot, but his French soaked, dime store philosophy is a bit tired. The time to complain about this was during Murder On The Orient Express. On the directorial side, he loves the odd camera angles. Dutch angles, fish eyed lenses, distorted perspectives. He used them all. In retrospect it represented how he was affected by the honey, but it was more of a distraction than it was a way to experience his disorientation. Overall I found this film enjoyable albeit forgettable. Lightning Round: -Tina Fey was just ok -Needed more Michelle Yeoh -Leopold was creepy and was a bit of a stretch in the final reveal -I confused the doctor and the fiancé repeatedly -Whodunnit stories do not succeed when details are muddled then relied on during the reveal.
