I assumed it would be about damaged people connecting to each other. My assumptions were not wrong but what I saw was more than that.   Alexander Payne knows how to highlight human interaction. It's almost like he pulled 3 archetypes out of a hat to challenge himself on making a movie involving all three.  Da'Vine is going to get all the attention and maybe even a Best Supporting Actress award. While she was good, I was blown away by Dominic Sessa, especially after seeing his filmography (it's empty).  Hope to see a lot more of this guy.  Might have to make this a Christmas tradition to watch each year.
