Interesting premise which is oddly appropriate for current times. This movie has the audience second guessing everything for good reason. Is this a wild conspiracy theory or the equally illogical truth? That state of unease washes over the entire film, which is the medium Yorgos Lanthimos loves to use. This time it worked and worked well. Yorgos Lanthimos is unpredictably hit and miss for me. I think I was supposed to like "Poor Things" and "The Lobster", but I didn't. I would have expected to not like "The Killing of a Sacred Deer", but I liked it despite its flaws. "Bugonia" is a much better crafted story, one that I enjoyed completely. Both Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons are incredible. Pitting them against each other directly in several scenes highlight the strength of their acting and the depth of their characters.
