Rated Companion 7/10

My expectations were strange for this one, because I knew that it was well liked mostly by those who did not know much about it. I tried to limit my exposure to prevent any spoilers. Once I started watching, I caught myself thinking that this movie would follow established cliches and tropes. While that was partially true, it did not take away from a well-designed story. It did get clumsy at time, especially by killing someone to easily heighten the situation, but at the same time simplifying the story without an extra character to explain. The rules for this world were clear and followed (mostly). Would like to have seen a better coda at the end with a better prediction of what will happen next. Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid are so enjoyable to watch nowadays. I hope they get all the roles. Their character could have turned into over-the-top caricatures easily in the hands of lesser actors. Like any good future-based story, it does a good job with the allegories to current times, without being preaching or heavy handed.
