Rated Sinners 8/10

Blown away by this movie. It harkens back to the stories of men competing with the Devil for someone's soul. This time the Devil comes in a different form but still highlights how evil can be desirable. Loved how Ryan Coogler made this feel authentic and lived in. Could have easily thrown a few odd phrases that were popular at the time and called it a day. I might not know much about 1932 Mississippi, but this seemed right to me. While I loved how this entire movie played out, I think I wanted a deeper meaning, a theme, or some sort of thread that plays throughout the story. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of entertainment and all the characters were fully fleshed out. Needed something that would explain why some characters were taken and some were saved. Michael B. Jordan continues to impress me in everything he does. Hailee Steinfeld knocks it out as well. Delroy Lindo, Omar Miller, and Tenaj Jackson were masterful in squeezing so much out of their smaller parts.
