Loved the concept of creating a supernatural group without technically being supernatural. The different storylines were woven together well enough, but the author may have painted himself in a corner a couple times. The different timelines of the stories threw me off on occasion. (Oh, that happened in the PAST!)
Max Barry treats this as an action/adventure story, which makes it a fast read. Just wished he took a little more time to focus on character development. While some characters had plenty of depth, reaching back to secondary characters to carry the story can get flimsy. Wanted more explanation of the organization surrounding Yeats, instead of simply saying he's important. Turns it into a secret society of one, which doesn't make much sense.
Took a very long time to move all the chess pieces on the board to set up the ending. Then, while the ending was not necessarily predictable, it was still inevitable
Despite those negatives, I enjoyed this book. Great concept and brisk story telling with plenty of action. Glad I read it. Well worth my time.
