I went into this fully prepared to be a reasonable, objective film critic. And honestly, Verity gave me plenty of reasons to lower my rating. The writing has its questionable moments, the twists don't always land, and some of the psychological tension feels more manufactured than earned.
But then there's Dakota Johnson. And Anne Hathaway. Two women I have an entirely unreasonable weakness for. Every time I started mentally deducting stars, one of them would appear on screen and my critical judgement would quietly leave the room.

Is that a valid approach to film criticism? Absolutely not.
Am I going to pretend I'm immune to these two? Also absolutely not.

The film has its flaws. My taste in women apparently has a stronger voting power.
3 stars for the film. An extra half for my complete lack of objectivity.
