Rated The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover 8/10

First time watching this since I decided to be a smart arse when doing Auteur Theory in A-Level Film Studies by picking Peter Greenaway instead of someone stylistically obvious like Tarantino or Burton. No fucking idea what a 17-year-old me wrote about between this, The Baby of Macon, and 8 1/2 Women. 22 or so years later — still a gruesome take on humanity through the juvenile replication of Baroque paintings. Beauty smeared in dog shit. Maddening yet so utterly engrossing.
