I've only seen this film (along with 2 and Forever After) once before, and I'm pretty certain it was in 2015. So, I really didn't remember much about this movie, and wow, was it better than I remember. I remember enjoying it the first time, and I definitely did so again. Sure, the animation hasn't aged the greatest, but what animation from this era has? It's good enough that it wasn't too distracting. This is a film that truly feels unique and has a different feel from even the other Shrek films. It's a genuine parody of fairy tales and does so brilliantly. It's genuinely hilarious, I constantly found myself laughing, and the choices of licensed music were truly inspired. Most of the time, licensed music is used as a crutch and I generally find myself not caring. This is one of the few films where I feel like where it actually elevates the movie. It keeps you on your toes, and I was sad when it was over. It's easy to see why Shrek became DreamWorks' icon. 3.5 stars = Pretty good.
