Rated Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl 8/10

The beginning of my favorite movie franchise of all-time. What isn't to love? The characters are memorable. Barbossa is a great villain, Jack Sparrow is well, Jack Sparrow (I'm sorry, but how else are you supposed to describe him?). The two lovers, Will Turner and Elizabeths Swann and their fun to watch "will-they-won't-they" relationship. Commodore Norrington is memorable as well as Mr. Gibbs and the two idiots who work for Barbossa (the fat one and the one with the false eye). The movie has a lot of great quotes ("It's more of a guideline than the rule"), the film score by Klaus Badelt (NOT Hans Zimmer, he only did the song "Swords Crossed", I'm so sick and tired of hearing people call it a Hans Zimmer score) is in my opinion, one of the best scores of all-time, top three probably. The action is thrilling, and so is the story, and really sets up a fascinating lore, such as how it sets up the mystery of Jack Sparrow's compass. What a fantastic film, one that I have seen many times and love all the more every time I see it. I truly cannot recommend this film highly enough if you have yet to see it. 4/5 = Very good
