Rated Little Women 4/10

I have now seen all four Little Women movie adaptions (that aren't silent movies), and sadly, this is the only version I cannot recommend at all. It's bad. The only characters who are even remotely memorable are Aunt March and Grandpa Laurie. No one else is even remotely memorable and have little personality. June Allyson is serviceable as Jo, but nothing more than that. She does a fine job, but forgettable at the end. Elizabeth Taylor did a decent job as Amy, and actually had a personality. She played a pretty good stuck-up girl. Sadly, that's about as kind as I can be about the characters in this version. Peter Lawford was way too old to play Laurie and was boring. He was just some generic dude. He was nothing like the Laurie from the book or other movies. Beth and Meg I can't even remember. Mary Astor as Marmee absolutely sucked. She did not seem to care one bit about the girls. Richard Wyler was rather abysmal. His proposal to Meg had so little emotion in it I swear Keanu Reeves could have done better. I was have traumatic flashbacks to Anakin Skywalker in "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" and his "I don't like sand" speech. Absolutely awful. To be honest, pretty much all the performances felt phoned in. It didn't feel as if anyone really cared. That said, I will give the film credit for creating a town that felt authentic to that time period, something the other films mostly had trouble with. So, in conclusion, while this film is definitely not horrible by any means (outside of certain moments and a few side characters acting performances), it's not good and not recommended. 2/5 = Kinda bad
