Rated Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World 10/10
Behold, not only do we have here the best film of 2003 (yes, better than "Return of the King"), but one of the best films ever. I genuinely cannot think of one flaw in this movie. Every scene is perfectly shot. No shot is wasted. Every shot helps tell the story. The score is fantastic, and so are the scenes of Jack and Stephen making music together. The dialogue is some of the best I have heard in a movie, everything someone says is believable, especially for it's time period. The acting is out-of-this-world. Every single actor, no matter how old or young, or important or unimportant to this story, brings their A-game. You really learn to love these characters and share in their triumphs and mourn with them in their losses. You genuinely feel their emotions along with them. The fight scenes are absolutely amazing. Every single character, even the extras have choreographed fights to be doing, so there's never a time in the background where you see two extras doing nothing more than just poking a sword at each other, instead they're fighting just as hard and as much as the main characters, so it truly actually feels as if you are in a battle. Even better, battles have weight. Anyone can actually die, so you are holding your breath to see which of your favorite characters die next. Anyway, seriously, please see this movie. I don't like rewarding movies with perfect scores unless I believe that they genuinely deserve it. This one does. It's as close to perfect as humanely possible. Please watch this.
