Rated Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan 8/10

What an amazing movie. In it we see Kirk's biggest mistake come back to bite him in the butt. Khan. We see another part of his past come back in a rather painful way. A woman named Carol Marcus, a failed relationship being forced into his life again. Then, not only that, we find out that he cheated the Kobiyashi Maru, and so has never really faced death, because he doesn't believe in no-win situations. Now he has to face death. Things are quite overwhelming for Kirk. Then, of course, add to that the fact that Khan is no pushover, he's a genius supersoldier. He can physically overpower Kirk pretty easily (as seen in their previous encounter in the episode "Space Seed" from the original series) and is a genius tactician who rivals Kirk's intellect, and boy does it show. The genius of this movie is watching this big game of cat-and-mouse, watching these two great rivals have to outwit each other in a very high stakes game that can affect the universe in a pretty serious way. Apocalypse is a very real concern, and the Enterprise crew must stop it while being at a massive disadvantage. This movie is a perfectly paced and well-told story. It is one of the best sci-fi movies ever made, and possibly my favorite. I cannot recommend it enough, even if you have never watched Star Trek before. Heck, this was my exposure to Star Trek.
