Rated The Philadelphia Story 8/10

This was surprisingly good. I'm going to be honest, I don't usually like romance movies. But, there's something about this one that drew me in. The acting for the most part was top-notch, especially for the main characters, which you would hope for, especially considering the cast (Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Jimmy Stewart). I didn't care for the acting job of whoever played Dinah (I don't remember her name), but other than that, the acting is amazing. Audrey really plays the out-of-touch but fiesty red headed rich girl (named Tracy) very well, one that hasn't learned to truly understand her feelings yet. Jimmy Stewart plays a writer who acts really tough but is doing it as a cover to protect himself and feels beat down by capitalism (a character I can truly relate to). Cary Grant plays Tracy's ex-husband who is trying to protect his ex's family's reputation from blackmail and I really warmed up to him as the movie went on. The dialogue is right on point in this movie. The dialogue does wonders in making each of it's characters feel completely realistic, outside of the early scene when the family is just starting their deception of the journalists by pretending certain people are different people. Honestly, this film is fantastic. Definitely one of the best films of it's generation and it's easy to see why it rejuvenated Aubrey Hepburn's career. It's a very well made movie that's very well paced, top-notch acting and dialogue where the story is revealed very well throughout the film. You never know what is going to happen next, and that's for the better. 4/5 = Very good
