Rated Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution 8/10
It's sad that this documentary is relevant again due to having an administration that openly despises disabled people instead of it just being important for documenting such an important civil rights struggle. I knew some of the absolute basics that were presented in this documentary, but actually getting to learn the names of the activists and see them and learn more about the advocacy was truly impactful. I'm disabled myself and I've read a lot of books about what it was like for disabled people back in the day, especially autistic and epileptic folk since that's what I am. But seeing disabled activists take on lobbyists and the government and win brought me hope. We still have so much to do and with every ableist decision made by the current administration, more gets added to the plate. That said, this documentary made me realize how far we've truly come, how this progress was achieved, and that we can not only preserve what we have, but we can fight for me...and win.
